TESTIMONIALS FROM OUR CUSTOMERS

WHAT DO OUR CUSTOMERS USE OUR ELAREM™ HPL FOR?

Our customers’ research covers a large range of applications. To get a better picture and deeper understanding of the broad variety of Human Platelet Lysates’ usage we share some comments from our customers.

Our ELAREM™ Human Platelet Lysates are used as FBS replacement in 2D or 3D cell culture, organ-on-a-chip technologies or tissue engineering.

HPL FOR THE MANUFACTURING OF ATMP

“At OUH‑CELL‑BENCH, we have been manufacturing our investigational ATMP product, ADRC001 (human mesenchymal stromal cells), using GMP‑grade ELAREM Perform‑FD Plus from PL BioScience for more than a year. We have found this ready‑to‑use hPL product to support cell growth exceptionally well, and we are particularly satisfied with its EU origin, which ensures full compliance with the European Pharmacopoeia.”

HPL FOR ORGAN-ON-A-CHIP AND ORGANOID TECHNOLOGIES

“Since 2019, we have initiated many musculoskeletal bioengineering projects using organ-on-a-chip and organoid technologies that aim to be animal-free. ELAREM™ as serum surrogate is ideally suited to provide primary human cells an animal-free environment to proliferate without any performance losses. My research group supports the use of serum substitutes such as ELAREM™ and we won’t ever go back to conventional FBS-based in vitro cultures. On a personal note, I hope to make an important contribution to the creation of disease and tissue models that are 100% animal-free for a more sustainable and moral approach to musculoskeletal disease modelling.”

HPL FOR TISSUE ENGINEERING

“The research field of tissue engineering (TE) gains great significance in regenerative therapeutic options of lost tissue functions. With regard to the subsequent clinical application and in order to increase the harmlessness of TE products, FBS supplementation of in vitro cell culture should be replaced by an alternative of human source. We have had great experience with the Human Platelet Lysate from PL BioScience.”

HPL AS SERUM REPLACEMENT FOR CELL CULTURE

“We use ELAREM™ Perform for the cultivation of MSCs and are very satisfied, since the Human Platelet Lysate product serves as stable serum replacement in our media and the ‘performance’ is even superior to FCS or human Serum (e.g. with regard to promotion of cell growth).”

HPL SUPERIOR TO FBS FOR MSCs

“ELAREM™ Perform shows superiority compared to traditional FBS-based media not only in enhancing MSCs’ growth kinetic, phenotypic, molecular and secretory profiles in vitro, but most importantly in the actual functionality of ELAREM™ Perform-expanded MSCs to control pain and inflammation upon implantation in vivo. Collectively, HPL expansion of MSCs in vitro reinforce their paracrine-derived immunomodulatory/trophic (‘medicinal’) activities, streamlining manufacturing protocols for effective in vivo therapeutics.”

HPL FOR 3D MSC CELL CULTURE

“ELAREM™ Matrix is a flexibly applicable matrix in the form of a hydrogel, serving as a carrier structure, yet as a nutrient supplier for the cells. We are using ELAREM™ Matrix for the 3D cultivation and isolation of MSCs.”

DO YOU HAVE A TECHNICAL QUESTION?

HPL AS BIO-INK FOR 3D BIOPRINTING

“HPL , a low cost rich source of growth factors, is a promising biomaterial constituent for formulating bioactive bioinks that will be utilised for fabrication of 3D cell-laden or cell-free structures in a range of applications in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Our work to date has demonstrated its potential in skin tissue engineering, with more work and collaboration to be undertaken in other areas of tissue engineering in the global research community, the benefits of HPL will be more broadly and increasingly appreciated.”

HPL FOR TISSUE REGENERATION

“ELAREM™ Perform has been used in our laboratory since 2017 to successfully cultivate and expand MSCs for in vitro as well as in vivo experiments to achieve potential tissue regeneration”

HPL FOR MSCS AND EV HARVEST

“We have been using Platelet Lysate from PL BioScience for several years to cultivate Mesenchymal Stromal Cells and harvest EVs. We chose the Perform version as a cost-effective alternative to the GMP-compatible Ultimate-FD PLUS, making it easier to plan for a smooth transition from affordable research toward future clinical translation. A further great advantage is the dedicated PL BioScience team, who provide excellent support in addressing challenges.”
